Sunday 4th. July.  The congregation shared tea/coffee and birthday cake after the morning service to celebrate the 80th. birthday of Mrs. Clarice Phillips, congratulations Clarice from everyone at our church, we hope you have a wonderful day with your family.

Well! here we are back from the annual Circuit Holiday at Ravenscar. The hotel was comfortable, staff helpful and friendly and the food superb, I guess most of us came home a few pounds heavier. We made visits to York, Whitby, Castle Howard, Burton Agnes and Scarborough, several of our number made the walk from Ravenscar to Robin Hoods Bay whilst others ventured out to sea for a short time. We met old friends made new ones and had a wonderful time of fellowship.

Evenings were spent playing games, taking part in quizzes or being entertained by the more talented among us performing on the guitar or piano. On the final evening we held our usual 'concert' with several people taking part with readings both serious and comical, interspersed with music and songs before a presentation was made to Marie as a thank you for all her hard work organizing the holiday.

Before departing on Friday morning the now traditional group photo was taken, this year with everyone on it as a member of the hotel staff kindly volunteered to take the pictures.

The Late Spring/Early Summer Fayre was held on Saturday 1st. May, despite a disappointing turnout we managed to raise the sum of £500 towards church funds.

At our special family service on Sunday morning January 31st we were pleased to present cheques for £907.50 each to Mrs. Mary Barrett, representing Helping Hands and Mrs. Krystyna Newman representing Macmillan Cancer Support. Both charities being the focus of our 2009 Autumn appeal, details on the Appeal page.

We are happy to report that the organs and other items sent to Africa all arrived safe and sound and in time for Christmas and are now being used by several congregations in the Republic of Benin, who send their heartfelt thanks and prayers to all who helped with the project.

The Christmas fayre, held on Saturday December 5th., was well supported and raised over £700 towards church funds. Pictured below are some of the helpers organising the popular cake stall.

Jean and Andre Hounkpatin have been hard at work over the past couple of years collecting together, storing, packing and finally shipping the items and are pleased to report that the organs, other instruments and gifts should be landing at the port of Cotonou in Africa on December 7th.
Jean and Andre wish to thank everyone for their kindness and generosity, both with donations of musical instruments and help with packing and shipping costs, a balance sheet of all the costs involved is posted on the church notice board.
It is wonderful that our friends in Africa will receive the gifts in time for Christmas.
