Mission Statement

Messingham Methodist Church exists to provide the people of Messingham with the opportunity to :

Worship God within their community.

Meet for learning, caring, fellowship and friendship, according to a diversity of interests and needs.

Have access to a flexible and affordable space within their own community, within a building that shows concern for the environment as well as the community.

This we do as an expression of our discipleship and mission; that we may give expression to our faith through word and deed by serving others and sharing the resources we have been entrusted with in a way that demonstrates concern for, and good stewardship of, all God's creation.

As a Christian Church, Messingham Methodist Church aims to express Christ's love to all people.

Jesus said the two greatest commandments are ; To love God and to love others as ourselves.

Out of love for God, we try to reflect the love of Christ to each other without condition or judgement, seeking to exclude no-one on grounds of disability, age, colour, race, nationality, ethnic origin, gender, marital status or sexual orientation.

As the people of the Methodist Church, we are concerned with the wholeness of each individual within God's purpose for everyone. We seek to safeguard all members of the church community of all ages. It is the responsibility of each one of us to prevent physical, sexual or emotional abuse and neglect of children and young people.
Messingham Methodist Church endorses fully this policy statement. As such we undertake to provide a safe environment for all activities where children are or may be present, accepting our responsibility for those arranged by organisations that may hire our premises as well as those arranged by ourselves.
This we do with regard to the place and the personnel involved in such activities, ensuring we observe the requirements of The Methodist Church and the Law of the Land, accepting and adopting the Implementation and Procedures as agreed by the Epworth & Scunthorpe Circuit.

As members of the Messingham Methodist Church, we commit ourselves to the safeguarding of vulnerable adults and ensuring their well-being in the life of this church.
It is the responsibility of each of us to prevent the physical, emotional, sexual, financial and spiritual abuse of vulnerable adults and to report any such abuse that we discover or suspect.
We undertake to exercise proper care in the appointment and selection of those who will work with vulnerable adults.
The church is committed to supporting, resourcing and training those who undertake this work.
The church adopts the guidelines as laid out in the publication ‘Safe to Belong’.
Each person who works with vulnerable adults will agree to abide by these recommendations and the guidelines established by this church.
The implementation of the policy will be reviewed annually.
